Biggest Solar Flare In 4 Years

**We went out for a couple of nights in a row looking to see if we could catch sight of the norhtern Lights as we are quite far north. But it was overcast and then a strong gale with high winds and sideways rain came up and lasted for 2 days so we did not get to see it which is a bit dissapointing considering we are so far north but maybe next time :'(

Here are some of the pictures of what was seen in countries like Sweeden etc.

The most powerful solar flare in four years exploded over the sun late Monday, according to NASA.
The magnetic instability that caused the flare also unleashed a blast of charged particles that should hit Earth's atmosphere tonight, possibly sparking auroras farther south than usual, experts say.

It is the extent to which the line dips down over the Northern Hemisphere that is so remarkable about the image.

The image was released by the National Oceanic And Atmospheric Association (NOAA) on the day half of North America was in the grip of a severe winter storm.
