English: Spelling

Not all good readers are good spellers....

I am working form a book called:

Help your Child Spell Well by Ken Adams

Help Your Child Spell Well 7-11: Build Those Vital Learning Skills - and Enjoy Yourselves Too! (Parents' essentials)

It has some good tips on how to spell well.

Each year I work on my own personal dictionary.  These are words I use every day and tend to get wrong for various reasons.  I write them out each day.  I first wirte out the wrong spelling once and mark it with  (x) - then underneath that, on a new line, I write the correct spelling.  Then I write a whole line of the correct spelling and I write out a sentence with that word.  I practice these words for a week (5 minutes each day) and by the end of the week I should have it right.  This also helps me to work out why I got the word wrong i.e., rules, sounds, exceptions to the rules.  Here are some words that I have been working on in my personal dictionary, this year.

Song Of The Day...

We decided to start something new.  We are going to chose a totally random song of the day or joke of the day type of thing.  It might not be everyday but it's just random and NOT our personal favourite or anything.

Looking at random things opens your mind, lets you hear or see something you would never usually look at or think about.

I like facebook but this song just caught my eye (or my ear)!!

I think that if you like facebook or not depends on what you do with it (Sort of like your life...)

Facebook is fab for tons of things, to name but a few

  • Keeping in touch with friends + family who are spread out all over the world - overseas or far away.
  • Sharing Photos with family and friends,
  • Keeping up to day with News events,
  • Supporting good Causes,
  • National geographic has xome excellent posts,
  • Net working - meeting new people with the same interests.
