I made a bit of a fun one online at this site trying it out.  The characters and props are very limited but the characters have a good selection of poses!  That helps me with working out poses - you need about 9, I think!

I did one on the school xmas dance - it was funny!

Making your own comix

I have been looking for a good comic making software thats free to download. 

There are a couple on-line like this one that offers a number of different options and characters:

but I am still  looking for a good one to download.  It started with my White Wonderland story that I decided to turn into a comic strip and I am doing it in Powerpoint but think there must be a better way....
