Maths - Basic Algebra

This youtube goes through the basic functions of + - x / and the effect that this has on the equation.

Basically you need to isolate the unknown (x) on one side of the equation so that you can find out what its value is.  The theory is that what you do to one side you do to the other.  This also means that if you take a value from one side of the equation to the other it changes from + to - (or visa versa) or it changes from x to / (of visa versa).

Here is a youtube which shows you how to simplify and work with brackets in basic algebra.
