This image below from their site, clearly shows the hurricane heading straight for us. We have been aware of this from last week as we watch a website called windfinder.com.
It was due to hit today with winds of 70mph but the weather forecast now shows it for tomorrow and lower winds. Its always really windy here and winter has almost constant high winds - a lot of which are hurricane force but in the form of gusts not an actual hurricanes.
The after effects of a hurricane hit here in 2005 and caused a lot of damage, as well as a couple of people who died, when their car was washed off a causeway.

Wonder if this will hit us / UK or wear itself out... The weather has been grim this weekend so far. Will be keeping a watch on this.
There were some funny light-hearted comments on a yahoo article that highlighted this Hurricane Katia: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/uk-braced-katias-dying-gasps-054404697.html
A couple of the comments were:
"Stop Moaning about the weather We've had a wonderful summer, I can distinctly remember those three sunny days in June, ................................ (Or was it July?)"
"Good excuse for a bad hair day :)"
"In America they call it a hurricane; over here in Britain we call it "a bit breezy."
-------------
This is what windfinder.com is showing at the mo. which is nothing really.
