English Poetry - The Sea by James Reeves

Today we studied the poem - The Sea.  This is the second poem by James Reeves in my textbook.  He effectively compares the sea to a hungry dog.  He uses a lot of comparisons during the poem.

One of the tasks, apart from analysing the poem, was to compare the sea to another animal.  Here is my version:

The sea is a furious stallion
foaming-white
storming the coast, always in sight
Wild-eyed and lashing hooves
Never asleep, always he moves
Lonely but free, frightening and rarely placid.
