Arts & crafts: Learing to KNIT...

I am going to learn to knit...

We have a few different colours and types of wool and different sizes of knitting needles.

We started going to a hobbies & crafts group that runs one evening a week. We thought it was going to be more crafts and hobbies but it seems the people who go to it do mostly knitting and a bit of patchwork...

So...we thought it was a good idea to learn some knitting anyway.

I have been working with wool a bit before trying it out with friendship bracelets as the local shop did not have embroidery cotton but we decided that the wool did not look as good as the embroidery cotton ;(

My one aunt spins her own wool and showed us how to spin wool using a hand spindle. This was cool and  want to try it out sometime.

Wool and knitting is ok if you have cool wool but some things that people knit are just &*^&(£ !

I'll let you know how it goes. One of the ladies had used this knitting stitch called Moss Stitch (1 x purl, 1 x plain) for a hot water bottle cover and it looked good with a lovely ribbon around the neck. We might try that. I still have to learn how to cast on, cast off and knit....

I tried it before when I was younger but did not get further than a few stitches LOL. It was just not my style.

We will see....

We have purples, pinks, blues & cream and some long hair wool. Some wool is really cool actually!

Getting all the colours and making rainbow things with black as well would look good... hmm

Some other things we will try:

Crochet
Embroidery
Quilting
Patchwork
